Dimension Stone Group Australia (DSGA) own and run quarries at Fraser Range, near Norseman West Australia. These quarries currently produce the Verde Austral and Garnet Ice granites and has access to a high quality black granite.

DSGA acquired the Fraser Range granite quarries around 2003.

The quarries have been in operation for well over 20 year, but production had slowed and hence availability of, in particular, A grade blocks, was limited.

In 2010, DSGA shares were acquired by the owners of Absolute Stone. DSGA came under new management and new shareholders.

The new shareholders have extensive stone paving marketing experience.

The company now has a very clear mandate to extract high quality stone blocks, with a special focus on use for commercial paving stone.

This experience has seen ‘world’s best practice’ quarrying techniques introduced. Large wire sawn blocks are now readily available, with blasting kept to an absolute minimum.

The quarry endeavours to carry in excess of 500 M3 of stock of A Grade block, allowing architects and designers to specify the material with confidence in our ability to supply product in a timely manner.

Verde Austral is used regularly by the City of Perth for its CBD street paving and continues to be used by the City of Sydney for all their CBD kerbing.

Well known streets using Verde Austral dimension cut granite pavers are:

St Georges Terrace, the Northbridge Link, Yagan Square and Stage 1 Waterfront, Hay St (City of Perth Library) and Wellington St….all located in CBD, Perth W.A.

 

In Sydney, 8,000 m2 were laid as part of the Martin Place street refurbishing.

Currently under construction is the new City of Perth Library, where Verde is being used for stone walling and all internal flooring and external paving.
