A major upgrade of St Georges Terrace was in the planning stages in 2009. The upgrade included reducing the number of traffic lanes whilst increasing pedestrian areas and introducing new landscaping, artworks and furniture to improve the public amenity of what is the City of Perth’s major thoroughfare.
Stage 1 of the project involved both sides of the Terrace between William and Barrack Streets and the centre median. The City insisted on the use of Australian Stones with a preference for materials from Western Australia.
The paving was specified as Verde Austral with the kerbing being Austral Black. DSGA (via our sales and marketing arm, Absolute Stone) successfully tendered for the work in September 2010 and commenced paving manufacturing. We contracted Melocco Stone to supply the Austral Black kerbing stone.  Overall there was 3,900 square metres of 40mm thick exfoliated Verde Austral paving supplied, with 1.3 km of kerbing and 0.7 km of 300 x 100mm gutter stones, all supplied in Austral Black.
Supply was successfully completed within 4 months although additional material was ordered to complete the works
